Government Authority located in Omaha, Nebraska; USA based organization looking for expert vendor for supplemental lobbying services.
[A] Budget: Looking for Proposals
[B] Scope of Service:
(1) Vendor needs to provide supplemental lobbying services to the government authority located in Omaha, NE.
- Under the direction of the city attorney, consultation with the mayor, city council, administrative department heads, and other city officials concerning problems and needs of all areas of municipal government in order to provide informed representation in the unicameral legislature, governor’s office, and other governmental and administrative agencies and bodies.
- Consultation with the above listed officials to determine a need to propose state legislation.
- Actively monitor proposed legislation to provide recommendations to city officials on whether to support, oppose, or remain neutral on legislative bills and amendments.
- Secures support for legislation that is favourable to the city and takes action to oppose legislation that is disadvantageous to the city’s interests.
- Appear before the legislature; establishes and maintains close contacts among legislative committees, individual legislators, the governor’s office, public officials, trade and industry associations, chambers of commerce, and business organizations in order to influence members and to assure full communication of ideas, interests, and purposes.
- Perform research concerning proposed legislation and state or other governmental regulations;
analyze tax laws and related data; prepares memorandum, letters, and reports on administrative and legislative problems and practices; explains or recommends action to the city attorney, mayor,
city council, or legislature; informs the city attorney, mayor, and city council about state and federal government trends, attitudes, and programs.
- Coordinate meetings with state legislators, their staffs, the governor’s office, and agency department leaders to provide the city with the opportunity to meet face-to-face with key decisionmakers on pertinent city issues.
- Draft legislation and amendments, as necessary.
- Provide weekly written briefing reports for the city attorney, mayor, and city council on key issues and legislative committee activity during the legislative session.
- Coordinate lobbying efforts, under the direction of the city attorney, with the city lobbyist, other firms or organizations retained by the city to perform lobbying services, and third-party lobbyists to secure appropriate representation of the city and favourable legislative outcomes for the city in the legislature.
(2) All questions must be submitted no later than September 21, 2022.
(3) Contract term will be one year.
