[A] Budget: Looking for Proposals
[B] Scope of Service:
(1) Vendor needs to provide non-auditory notification systems
- Brochures, specification sheets and marketing materials of systems in current production
- Location of any resources for reading, training, or demonstrations, if available on the internet
- Case studies, if available, describing large-scale system implementation and roll out
- considered message boards, but the ultimate goal is a solution that a deaf or hard of hearing inmate can keep on their person 24/7,
- Wi-Fi Capacity: The State Wi-Fi network within NDCS is extremely isolated and is not being used to support inmate applications or services.
- Facility Design: The physical materials not conducive to wireless reception, and the layout of each facility differs. Multiple housing units exist within each facility.
- Security/Contraband Concerns: Any device proposed as part of a prospective solution cannot pose a danger to end users or staff, or be capable of being weaponized. Limited amounts of metal may be allowed; clear casing and visible wiring is ideal.
- Incarcerated Persons transfer between facilities
- Inmates transfer between facilities based on classification levels or other needs, the deaf or hard of hearing inmate solution may need to be used at multiple locations,
- Scalable: capable of being expanded within a facility as infrastructure allows
- Software/Hardware: licensed for use within an institutional setting
- Simple: Efficient and easy to use by both correctional staff and incarcerated population
- Device: Capable of being used by a geriatric and/or physically challenged population
- Security Concerns: Devices must be capable of only one-way transmission from the sending output from NDCS staff to the end user
- Composition of Device: Non-metal, suitable for secure environment
- Multiple Sensory Notifications: For example: a device both vibrates and flashes to notify of user of pending message
- Capable of Kept on Person 24/7 with minimal care/upkeep
- Experience Implementing within a correctional or secure environment.
